Happy New Year

Happy New Year to the beloved people of Marshall County and Holly Springs! We can look back now over the past year. Some of it was great, some not so great, but now we are at the threshold of a new year where we can begin again. We are entering the room of 2008 and let's make this new year better than ever. Some new resolutions should be:

  1. Set goals. Have a plan for your life and then pursue the plans. This works best for young people but it can also work for the older person whose time is more limited. Never quit trying. Plan your life and what you want to do with it and what you want to be remembered for.
  2. Build a great self image. You only pass this way once and you can't do it over again. There are no reruns here. Make your life good.
  3. To make life good have good character. Follow the excellent Book that God wrote and use His outline on the principles of success. Make the most of every day.
  4. Think positive. Never allow negative thoughts to be in your life as they are downers. Don't try to pull down other people by criticizing or by being unkind.
  5. Strive to be great. Not all great people are celebrities. We have some here who are great, just like you and me. Make the most out of what you have.
  6. Humble yourself. Don't get to thinking of how much greater you are than everybody else. You aren't. Build up others rather than trying to bring them down to your size. Jealousy fits in here. Don't be jealous. Be glad for the success of others and help them to celebrate their success.
  7. Always have self control. Never, ever be your own victim of having a temper tantrum. No one has temper tantrums unless he has someone who will put up with them. Besides losing your temper and being out of control is a form of insanity or losing your mind. You don't want that.
  8. Help others. There are times when everyone needs a helping hand. One of your goals should be to do something for someone else everyday. We always have to do for ourselves, it is called self preservation, but let's go beyond that by reaching out to help others.
  9. Have confidence. Young people should be the best they can beby preparing themselves by becoming educated. Without an education in this educated world, you don't have a chance. It helps to know what you are doing. Develop your talents, all of them. Remember, if you don't use that talent, you lose that talent. We are all given different talents. Make the most of them.
  10. On your way, be fantastic, don't wither up and grow old and bitter. That's no fun. Life needs to be enjoyable and wonderful. Make everyday count for something good.Take care of your health. Don't destroy your wonderful by abusing it with alcohol or drugs, or anything excessive. Too much of anything is not good.
  11. Make the right decisions. Chose wisely which path you will take. Ask the Lord to be your partner and you won't go wrong.
  12. Everyone should aim for a Heavenly hereafter. There is only one narrow passage there and that's through Jesus. Knowing Jesus is like an insurance policy to get you to Heaven. Heaven lasts forever and forever. So does Hell, so we need to be sure we get on the right road by obeying the Heavenly priciples of Jesus and pass these principles on to others, old and young. If you don't tell someone, they may never hear of Jesus. Make the world a better place because YOU have been there.
